Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Galaxy address Seluleko Mahlambi speculation

Published on by

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has addressed speculation linking youngster Seluleko Mahlambi to Kaizer Chiefs.

Mahlambi, promoted to the Galaxy senior team this season, has been impressive so far, managing five goals and four assists for the Rockets in 32 games, attracting the interest of the Soweto giants.

The 21-year-old winger has also played a crucial role in Galaxy’s run to the Nedbank Cup final and is seen as a highly-talented player that the club will struggle to keep hold of.

However, Sukazi is not worried that he could lose Mahlambi soon and has instead acknowledged the interest but advised the player to keep his feet on the ground as the club will make sure his best interests are taken care of.

“We do our best in trying to keep our youngsters focused despite any kind of interest out there. Mahlambi is a point of focus now, and we are well aware,” Sukazi told FARPost.

“So we do our best to deal with such situations; we’ve been facing such situations before, and we are quite seasoned in that department. If there’s any club that is doing this job [of dealing with transfers] better is us.

Will Kaizer Chiefs land the youngster?

“We’ve unleashed young talent, and some are excelling where they are. Mahlambi’s opportunity will probably come.”

Sukazi’s team has been good at taking chances on highly talented youngsters, nurturing them and selling for huge sums to the ‘Big Three’ in the PSL or outside the country.

In the last nine months, they have sold winger Kamogelo Sebelebele to Orlando Pirates, defender Khulumani Ndamane to Mamelodi Sundowns as well as winger Puso Dithejane to MLS club Chicago Fire and Mahlambi could be the next to be sold for a massive fee to another giant club in Chiefs.
