‘He is not what they thought he was’ – Kaizer Chiefs told to admit transfer blunder

Kaizer Chiefs have been told to come clean over the signing of defender Nkanyiso Shinga who is yet to make his debut for the club this season.

Shinga was signed in the off-season to beef up Chiefs at left-back but six months on, he is yet to play competitively for the club.

The defender’s absence has been a mystery with the club not providing any explanations over his whereabouts, casting doubts about his future.

Former Chiefs goalkeeper William Shongwe feels the Glamour Boys have not been truthful about the situation of the defender as he believes there is something wrong but the club is not ready to admit it.

“I think there’s a reason. Though I don’t know. I am wondering also that you know what would be the reason?” Shongwe posed while speaking to Soccer Laduma.

“If he’s not fit enough, how do you expect him to be fit now if he hasn’t been fit for the past four months? And, not even on the bench, it’s like something is wrong with that signing somewhere.”

Shongwe has advised Chiefs to own up if they made a transfer mistake on Shinga and let him leave rather than paying a player who is not helping the club.

“Maybe an injury that is not healing, but there’s no proper information that is coming out,” he added. “To think that since we saw him in the pre-season, nothing has happened, there must be something wrong.”

“They must just own up that they made a big mistake. He is not what they thought he was and release him. I am sure he is getting paid a lot of money while sitting idling,” Shongwe further said.

Shinga and Ethan Chislett are the two players yet to make their Chiefs debut after their signing before the season started with Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman, who arrived much later, having played for the club ahead of them.

The two were part of Chiefs’ pre-season camp in the Netherland and played in the off-season Toyota Cup against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko before they disappeared from the horizon.

“Exactly, he’s the other one. No, for me, the management must make a good decision, then to say where it went wrong,” Shongwe added when asked about Chislett.
