Kaizer Chiefs defender Nkanyiso Shinga could be in line to make his debut for the club after being included in the squad to face Zamalek.

‎Shinga is among the new signings who are yet to make their debut for Amakhosi this season, having joined as a free agent from Portuguese club FC Alverca ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

‎The defender was termed not ready despite joining early and being part of Chiefs‘ pre-season camp in the Netherlands.

‎“With Shinga and Ethan (Chislett), both of them are with us. They do all the training, and we as coaches know when the right time for us will be to introduce them to the team,” said Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef in September.

‎”They keep working, they have a very good attitude and good performances in training, but we are waiting until the best moment to introduce them to the team.”

Chiefs are set to face Zamalek in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday, seeking a return to winning ways, after losing 2-1 away to Egyptian side Al Masry last weekend.

It looks like Shinga could play a part although Ben Youseff and his co-coach Cedric Kaze are likely to take a cautious approach with him as they look to integrate the left-back into the squad.

Chiefs will be under pressure to deliver three points after their losing start to the Confederation Cup group stages as anything less could jeopardise their chances of making it to the quarter-finals, hence the need to field a strong starting XI.
