Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Latest rumours, gossip and done deals

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs‘ management and technical team worked hard to get players who can help them deliver in the 2025/26 season.

The Glamour Boys are hoping to make a statement both domestically and abroad where they are competing in the CAF Confederation Cup. Locally, they are out of the Carling Knockout meaning they have the Nedbank Cup and the Premier Soccer League to chase.

Afrik-Foot focuses on Amakhosi's journey in the transfer window; players who have been signed, released, or rumoured to be on their way to Naturena, as well as recent changes in the club.

Former Amakhosi duo join Bucs

Orlando Pirates have signed forme Kaizer Chiefs duo Mthokozisi Balakasi and Ayanda Rorwana for their Gauteng ABC Motsepe League for the 2025/26 campaign.

Both loanees were developed at Naturena's structures but did not fully transition to join their senior team despite being tipped as future South African stars.

The Amakhosi loanee duo had been tipped to rise and become stars at the club but they didn't realise their potential. For instance, Rorwana played for the reserve side alongside Njabulo Blom, Samkelo Zwane, and Happy Mashiane.

Balakasi has also been showing glimpses of brilliance but he just couldn't make the cat. The two will now play for Pele Pele hoping to eventually realise their potential and play in the Premier Soccer League.

Ex-Chiefs star Obua set for a new challenge

Former Kaizer Chiefs player David Obua is in line to take over as the head coach of the Ugandan Premier League outfit NEC.

The position might fall vacant after the current coach, Mbalangu Hussein, breached the discipline code, which led to his suspension.

“Head Coach Mbalangu Hussein has been suspended due to professional and ethical misconduct, effective immediately. In the interim, James Odoch will assume the role of Head Coach,” NEC stated on their website.

Reports from Uganda indicate NEC might opt to do away with Hussein and pave the way for the former Amavubi star, who has not been with a team since April 2024, when he was released by URA.

Chiefs to promote youngster?

‘It came as a surprise’: Chiefs loanee Jansen on SuperSport move

Amakhosi are set to promote their academy product Donay Jansen to the senior team in the future since the technical team still believes the attacker has what it takes to be a factor at the club.

The 22-year-old was, last season, loaned to a now-defunct SuperSport United, but struggled for game time.

“That's where the problem was. Going on loan to SuperSport, where he did not play. Yeah, definitely that brought him back. He is gonna get back. He is getting back slowly but surely,” Soccer Laduma reported.

“He is going to be the best. He has got the talent. He is going to be a good boy. He is going to be a strong boy again. We played him in defence for game time. For him to go up and down just for him to have game time, because if he stays up there, he will just stay there. It has been a long time for him,” they concluded.

Sam to join Chippa United?

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates left-back Bongani Sam has been without a club since his release by the Glamour Boys.

The 28-year-old joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, but left without making an official appearance. He has since been looking for a new team for the 2025/26 season, and it seems he might end up joining Luc Eymael's Chippa United.

“Sam has been spotted in the Chippa training kit and training with the Chilli Boys, with hope of impressing head coach Eymael,” iDiski Times confirmed.

If he joins the Chilli Boys, the left-back will have to show he is better than Malebogo Modise to stand a chance of starting. Currently, Chippa are at the bottom of the Premier Soccer League table with just six points from the nine games played. They have scored just six goals and conceded 14 in the process.
