‘He’s shown true colours, he’s like Middendorp’: Ex-Chiefs player on Nabi

Former Kaizer Chiefs player Junior Khanye has claimed that Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi plays similar style of football as Ernst Middendorp.

Nabi assumed his position at Chiefs during the off-season after leaving AS FAR Rabat in Morocco.

Initially, the things appeared promising, with the Soweto giants demonstrating improved performance compared to the previous year. However, recent results have not been favourable.

Khanye thinks that Nabi is beginning to reveal his true approach, favouring long balls over a strategy that emphasises building play from the back.

He believes Amakhosi won’t win anything under the tutelage of Nabi this season.

KHANYE SAYS CHIEFS WON’T WIN A TROPHY THIS SEASON

“Nabi was not bad at the start even though he lost 4-0 against Young Africans in pre-season. His team did well in games such as the one against Amazulu and the win against Marumo Gallants,” said Khanye on iDiskiTV.

“However, recently, he has shown his true colours. He likes to play long balls just like Ernst Middendorp.

“Mamelodi Sundowns taught him a very painful lesson. I can see that he is also very temperamental on the bench and gets too many yellow cards.

“I don’t think Chiefs will fire him, but he will not win anything for Chiefs this season. He won’t get any trophy. Top Eight finish at best.”
