The versatile attacker had hoped to join the Swanky Boys, but the technical team had other preferences.
SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has confirmed Keagan Dolly was close to joining the team but coach Gavin Hunt had other ideas.
The former Montpellier attacker was among the players released by Kaizer Chiefs a couple of weeks ago. Others who were also deemed surplus to requirements were Sifiso Hlanti, Jasond Gonzalez – who was playing on loan, and Siyethemba Sithebe.
The 31-year-old was interested in joining Matsatsantsa after a stint in Amakhosi that saw him score 14 goals and provide 11 assists in the 67 games across all competitions.

Where did it go wrong for Dolly?
The attacker underwent medical tests with SuperSport United, meaning he was certain he has a new Premier Soccer League team.
However, Vincent Pule, who had been released by Orlando Pirates, was Gavin Hunt's preference according to Matthews.
“I couldn’t sign Keagan Dolly and Vincent Pule; that’s Gavin’s choice. He’s best suited to answer [why he went for Pule]; my job is to support the coach,” the administrator said as quoted by Far Post.
“He has worked with Vincent before [at Bidvest Wits]; he feels like Vincent can play far on the wing and as a number 10 [attacking midfielder]. He knows the training, his pressing and he knows what he wants from him.
“I think maybe Gavin was just uncertain as to where Keagan is. We did have a medical which was fine, but when it came down to selection of either A or B, that’s the coach’s call. And I look to close up what he wants, and he wanted Vincent.”
Pule might make his SuperSport debut on Saturday against his former team, at Orlando Stadium in the MTN8 quarter-final outing.
