Mamelodi Sundowns players are expected to dominate the Premier Soccer League's Awards Gala after the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Among the players who had a good campaign are Lucas Ribeiro, Iqraam Rayners, Relebohile Mofokeng, Keletso Makgalwa, among others. Stakeholders in Mzansi have been vocal on who they feel deserves to be crowned for what they achieved for their respective clubs.

Former SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has thrown his weight behind South American attacker Lucas Ribeiro.

The 27-year-old played 26 league matches for the champions, scored 16 goals, and provided nine assists. Former Stellenbosch captain Rayners managed the same number of assists but scored two goals less.

“My Footballer of the Season is that little man from Mamelodi Sundowns, Lucas Ribeiro,” the 60-year-old said as quoted by SNL24.

“What set Ribeiro apart from other players is that he scored goals and he created goals. That's the most important thing.”

Sundowns' Miguel Cardoso, former Orlando Pirates tactician Jose Riveiro, and Steve Barker of Stellenbosch had a good year. Hunt, who parted ways with the Swanky Boys with a couple of games remaining, believes Berker should be feted.

Stellenbosch reached the Caf Confederation Cup semi-final in their debut, and finished third on the Premier Soccer League table.

“Coach of the Season is Steve Barker, the coach of Stellenbosch. I just feel that to achieve what he's achieved with the squad that he had this past season, it's a great achievement,” he concluded.

Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams won the Player of the Season Award in the 2023/24 season, while Rulani Mokwena got the Coach of the Season Award.
