Kaizer Chiefs advised: Strengthen this ‘important position’

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs have received clear advice to bolster a crucial “important position” for the upcoming 2025/26 season, a move prompted by their consistent struggles in that area over recent campaigns.

Last week, Amakhosi travelled to the Netherlands for the pre-season camp where they are preparing for the next campaign.

They have already played their first friendly, losing 2-1 at the hands of Dutch side Vitesse.

Amakhosi have been extensively recruiting new talent, bolstering various positions across the squad in preparation for the upcoming Betway Premiership season. Yet, amidst this flurry of new signings, there has been a noticeable absence of any new goalkeepers joining the ranks.

Former club’s winger Junior Khanye asserts that the Amakhosi are facing a significant goalkeeper crisis. He strongly advises the club to prioritise acquiring both a top-tier goalkeeper and a reliable backup.

‘THEY SHOULD BE SIGNING A GOALKEEPER’

“They should be signing in the important position, a goalkeeper,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“A very important position, they were supposed to sign a goalkeeper. I see all the signings and Nabi is he okay having a pre-season with Kaizer Chiefs thinking his problem is wing-backs? It’s a question that’s why I’m asking.

“The goalkeeper position, the guy just overlooked that and signed wing-backs. It’s a question I’m asking myself. So it means he attacks with wing-backs? That he realised that his problem is at wing-back that he needs one at right and left but he doesn’t have a goalkeeper.

“Chiefs have signed but they still haven’t signed a goalkeeper not even a back-up because you don’t need one goalkeeper, you also need a back-up. They have a crisis in that department. They don’t have two goalkeepers. In a position that’s so important, they don’t have a goalkeeper.”
