Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa emphasizes the vital role of team support in maintaining his high performance level.

The 2023/24 Golden Boot winner recently ended his goal drought with a hat-trick in their resounding 8-1 victory over Marumo Gallants, followed by a suspension for the match against Magesi.

Mabasa acknowledges that the strong camaraderie within the squad and the technical team is instrumental in his ongoing contributions towards the team's pursuit of silverware this season.

“It’s very important, if you are not okay mentally as a footballer, there’s nothing positive you can do on the field, trust me,” Mabasa said.

“You need to be in a proper mental state in order for you to perform at the top level. The support from the team is amazing, honestly. I get goosebumps talking about it, it’s crazy and I can only credit them [for what they do], for me to [score goals].

“I just want to say thank you and I’m happy to be repaying the faith they all have in me.”

Since joining Orlando Pirates from Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2019, the 28-year-old has netted 38 goals and provided five assists in 106 appearances for The Buccaneers.
