Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has warned against underestimating Kaizer Chiefs in the PSL title race.
Chiefs, who are now third on the table with 27 points, are just two behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and one adrift of second-placed Pirates, although they have played 14 games, just like the Brazilians, while Ouaddou’s team have two games in hand.
However, many still believe Chiefs are not in the title race because of their inconsistencies and the general outlook of their squad that is not of the same quality to what Pirates and Chiefs have.
Ouaddou not ruling out Chiefs

That is not how Ouaddou is seeing it though as he feels it would be a mistake to rule them out of the running for the league title despite their issues.
“I am watching two teams, Sundowns and Chiefs,” Ouddou said in an interview on Marawa Sports Worldwide. “When mathematically it is possible, we don’t have to forget them. Mathematically, it is possible, don’t forget them,” he added.
The Pirates coach also thinks the title race will not go down to the last match despite the little margin between the top three teams.
Will title race go down to the wire?
“No, I think the PSL is strong,” he added, when asked if he thought the race will go down to the wire. “There are strong teams, the best league in Africa, we will have to fight, everybody has to fight until the end to be champion.”
Ouaddou is having a dream debut season at Pirates where he has already won the MTN8, Carling Knockout and Carling Black Label Cup while he still has eyes on the big one, the PSL title.
Pirates last won the league crown in 2012 but they have shown great form which is giving fans confidence that they can end Mamelodi Sundowns’ stranglehold after the Brazilians claimed the last eight in a row.
