Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has conceded the game against Magesi FC on Saturday will be more than revenge for him.
The Premier Soccer League newbies shocked Mzansi by eliminating Bucs from the Carling Knockout before going all the way to beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final. Riveiro will be leading the Carling All-Stars team against Dikwena tsa Meetse on Saturday in the Carling Black Label Cup that will be played at the Orlando Stadium.
The Spaniard was voted to coach the All-Stars team for the second time in as many seasons. In the last edition, he helped his side defeat the then-champions Stellenbosch 2-1 to be crowned.
Ahead of the game, Riveiro has since capitalised on the chance to explain what went wrong for the Sea Robbers in the defeat against Magesi, and what he is expecting this weekend.
‘We are going to have our own revenge'
“It is true that it’s personal, it’s the team that eliminated us from this competition early. We just arrived 45 minutes late in the game. It was a difficult day and a strange one,” Riveiro opened up ahead of the game.
“I don’t see the opportunity now like kind of a revenge, we are going to have our own [revenge] on the 29th but this Saturday is an opportunity, especially for the guys to offer a good show, understanding that Magesi is a good definition of the word team.
“It’s a tough team to play against. But yeah I’m happy to represent these guys, these boys on Saturday to give them the right space and the right platform to showcase their talent and their skills, and especially I think it’s a day to more than anything entertain the people who are going to come to the stadium, follow us perform and that’s the main objective.”
