Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Isaac Mabotsa insists the Glamour Boys will have a successful season if they manage to finish in the top half of the table.
On Saturday, the Soweto giants will conclude their Premier Soccer League campaign with a home game against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium. A win will be enough for the Nasreddine Nabi-led team to secure the MTN8 ticket for the 2025/26 edition. A draw might also work, but that will depend on their rivals like Magesi and Marumo Gallants who also have a chance to finish in the top eight.

Chiefs ended their decade-long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup. Mabotsa is convinced that winning this weekend will be celebrated like being crowned.
It will be the cherry on top…
“Kaizer Chiefs need to secure a Top Eight finish on Saturday; They performed well in the Nedbank Cup, so they must build on that and win against Polokwane City. They have experienced how sweet it is to play in a cup final,” he told KickOff.
“They need to win this game. Finishing in the Top Eight would make this season a success for them. It's do or die. I'm confident that if they qualify for the Top Eight, everyone will celebrate just as they did when they lifted the Nedbank Cup.
“Achieving both the Nedbank Cup and a Top Eight finish would be quite an accomplishment. While winning the Nedbank Cup brought joy to everyone, it won't erase the disappointment of a poor 2024/2025 season.
“Yes, they made many people happy by winning the Nedbank Cup, but the cherry on top has to be a place in the Top Eight,” Mabotsa concluded.
The game between Chiefs and Polokwane will be played from 15.00 hours SAT.
