It’s never the easiest thing!’ Chislett concedes ahead of ‘surreal’ experience

Kaizer Chiefs have so far confirmed six new arrivals ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League outing.

Among them is the 26-year-old creative attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett, who joined the team from Port Vale, a team he helped to secure promotion to the 2025/26 League One. It will be the first time he is playing in South Africa, having spent time in the United Kingdom, where his family resides.

The midfielder concedes that playing in the new team is usually not easy, but is happy with what he has so far seen.

“Joining a new Club is never the easiest thing in the world. You have to adapt. But since I joined, everyone has been amazing and I am so happy here. This is why I love South Africa; everyone smiles. I’d like to say I am fitting in really well,” he said as quoted by the club's media team.

“It’s a credit to my new teammates and the management staff for welcoming me so warmly. It’s a really exciting time for me and I am looking to attack these challenges head-on.”

He then opened up on what he is bringing to the team, “I appreciate creativity but the bottom line is you have to score goals to win games. I’d like to think I can rise to the occasion when called upon to make a decisive contribution for my team, and that’s what motivates me.”

‘It’s going to be unreal for me'

On July 26, Amakhosi will be playing Ghanaian heavyweights Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup game to be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

In the last edition, the Glamour Boys fell 4-0 against Young Africans of Tanzania, and will be hoping to reclaim the glory this year. Chislett feels privileged to stand a chance of making his debut in the Stadium where he watched the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup.

“It will probably be surreal. It’s something I’ll look back on. Sometimes when you’re in the moment, you don’t take everything in, but afterwards it will fully sink in. I came to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup and watched a match in that stadium, so it’s going to be unreal for me and my family to play there,” he concluded.

Chislett is currently with the Glamour Boys in the Netherlands for pre-season ahead of the new season.
