Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has opened up on rumours that linked him to the Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United.
The 37-year-old saw his contract expire at the end of the season, with the Soweto giants offering non-playing role, making it clear they wouldn’t extend his contract as a player.
Khune believes he’s still young and has a lot to offer on the field of play.
He recently confirmed his departure from the Chiefs in a playing capacity; however, he considers taking other opportunities they have offered him as there’s no interest at the moment from other clubs.
KHUNE STILL IN TALKS WITH KAIZER CHIEFS
“When I say not with Chiefs, regarding playing… so other opportunities, yes,” said Khune during the interview with iDiski Times.
“We are talking to go back to Chiefs, regarding other opportunities. But playing, they made it clear they won’t offer me a playing contract, which I also had to accept the decision made by the club.
“I am in full support, they wanted to do changes in playing personnel and technical team. They my full support and I’m still a supporter of Kaizer Chiefs, and I will forever be.”
In response to the rumors surrounding Sekhukhune, Khune stated that he has never engaged in any discussions with Babina Noko.
“To be quite honest, it never happened. Nobody from Sekhukhune reached out, nobody,” he added.
