Al Ahly have finally confirmed the appointment of Jose Riveiro, ending speculation over his future.
Riveiro left Orlando Pirates early this month after a successful three-year stay, with the club announcing that he had landed a new job.
It later emerged that it was Egyptian giants Al Ahly who had lured him to Cairo from the Orlando Stadium and on Thursday, the “Club of the Century” made it official.

Al Ahly announce Riveiro’s arrival
“A new chapter begins,” Al Ahly posted on social media while announcing Riveiro’s arrival.
Riveiro was unveiled by Al Ahly one day after they won a record-extending 45th league title on Wednesday after fending off the challenge of Pyramids.
He will therefore be tasked with maintaining their dominance in the league while he will be judged by how he performs in the CAF Champions League as failure to make it to the final led to the sacking of Swiss coach Marcel Koller.
Riveiro has arrived with his backroom staff and will be joined by interim coach Emad El-Nahass who has steadied the ship since Koller left and won the league title.
What can the Red Devils expect?

The Spanish coach joins Al Ahly with his stock high after guiding Pirates to five trophies in three years being three MTN8s and two Nedbank Cups while he led them to the Champions League semi-final this season.
During that run, Riveiro’s Pirates faced Al Ahly in the group stages, drawing 0-0 at Orlando Stadium before winning 2-0 in Cairo, and it seems the 47-year-old’s tactical acumen won over the Al Ahly board led by club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib.
Riveiro will officially begin work on Friday May 30 as Al Ahly prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup set to be played in the United States from June 14-July 13.
