Kaizer Chiefs confirm two major signings

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs have made a splash by announcing the free-transfer signings of former Orlando Pirates duo Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako.

These two experienced fullbacks are crossing Soweto to Naturena after their contracts with the Buccaneers expired.

These latest additions follow swiftly on the heels of other recent recruits. Amakhosi had already confirmed the arrival of left-back Nkanyiso Shinga as their first signing for the new season, with Flavio Silva and Ethan Chislett also joining the ranks.

Significantly, 31-year-old Paseka Mako was unveiled just before the team's crucial pre-season trip to the Netherlands, signaling his immediate integration into the squad.

“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce the signings of Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako as their two new acquisitions after announcing three other players earlier this week.

“Previously with Orlando Pirates, the pair bring valuable experience to Naturena, having won trophies and participated in the CAF Champions League in recent seasons.

“Mako, born in Zebediela, Limpopo, plays as a left wingback, while Monyane operates as a right back in the defensive line. The duo will reinforce Amakhosi’s rear guard with their versatility and work rate.

“The team will travel to the Netherlands tonight for a pre-season training camp.”

Mako brings a wealth of experience to Naturena, having spent nine years at Orlando Pirates. During his tenure, he made 173 appearances, scoring two goals and providing eight assists, while celebrating six trophy wins with the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Monyane is a product of the Pirates academy, having spent six seasons as part of their first-team squad before his recent departure.
