Kaizer Chiefs, once again, made a huge step towards the CAF Confederation Cup ticket as they collected a point in the goalless draw with Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Glamour Boys had collected five wins in a row to solidify their bid to finish in the top three and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in the forthcoming 2026/27 edition.

Rise and Shine were keen on getting a positive outing to boost their top-eight ambitions.
The first half story
The Soweto giants started the game strongly owing to their confidence that came about with recent form in the South African top-flight football.
Initial knocks on the host’s door paid no dividends, as the defenders effectively did their job. But they had to rely on goalkeeper Lindokuhle Mathebula to keep them in the game.

Chiefs had won a free-kick in a prime position in the eighth minute and Glody Lilepo stepped up to take it. However, the custodian pulled a brilliant stop to deny the Democratic of Congo attacker.
Rise and Shine could have taken a lead in the 28th minute as Mokibelo Ramabu was let loose in the danger zone, but Amakhosi skipper was there to do his job much to the frustration of the home supporters.
The first half ended goalless, but it was Chiefs who were forced to make a change as injured Aden McCarthy paved the way for Inacio Miguel.
Petersen’s heroics saves the day for Chiefs
The Soweto giants had to rely on their captain in the 55th minute as he had to fully stretch to deny the unmarked Ramabu from about six yards out. The resulting corner was dealt with by the defenders.
Both teams played an entertaining attacking game, but all the fans wanted to see were goals.

Lilepo, who was a danger throughout, was gifted a chance about five yards out in the 61, but he sky-rocketed his effort. In the 75th minute, the Congolese, was unfortunate, once again, to see his attempt hit the bar.
In the final five or so minutes, Chiefs were lucky to get a point as Polokwane attacked more frequently, but lacked the much-needed composure to finish them.
Chiefs remain third on the table with 46 points from the 24 matches they have played, while Polokwane are seventh with 34.
