Kaizer Chiefs extend duo’s contract after proving their worth despite Nabi’s exit!

Kaizer Chiefs management opted to retain Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef even after firing their head Nasreddine Nabi, just six games into the ongoing 2025/26 campaign.

Despite failing to win any trophies, Kaze and Ben Youssef have helped Amakhosi qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). The Soweto heavyweights narrowly failed to make the knockout phase of the continent’s club second-tier tournament.

Goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi and conditioning coach Safi Majdi have been excellent in their respective departments which has been recognized by the management.

It explains why the duo’s contract has been extended by the Glamour Boys, who are working harder to get their consistency.

The extension of two coaches to be confirmed but what about Kaze & Ben Youssef?

“What I can tell you for now is that the talks which are happening are for the two – the goalkeeper coach and the conditioning coach. It’s believed that they have been offered two years each, which means, if they sign, their contracts will run from July 2026 to June 2028. Nothing has been agreed yet, but that’s the offer on the table for now,” Soccer Laduma reported.

“As for coach Cedric Kaze and coach Khalil Ben Youssef, I can’t say anything at the moment because there is nothing yet, but I believe that before the team plays the last game against Orbit College on Saturday, something could have happened.

“You know it’s a tough decision if you look at the results, but for the other two, it was depending on their individual contributions in the goalkeeping department and conditioning of players, that’s why it appears as though they have already been offered the two-year contracts each already,” they added.

It is interesting to see what Chiefs management will decide regarding Kaze and Ben Youssef after the PSL concludes this weekend.
