Kaizer Chiefs forward calls for ‘stronger teams’ on pre-season tour

Striker Wandile Duba has articulated his expectations regarding the calibre of opposition Kaizer Chiefs should face during their upcoming pre-season tour in the Netherlands.

The Soweto giants recently convened at the Chiefs Village, dedicating their first week of pre-season to essential medical and fitness assessments, laying the groundwork for the demanding campaign ahead.

Among the squad members diligently undergoing these checks was Wandile Duba, who stood out last season as the side's most prolific attacker.

Despite enduring various injuries that forced him to miss significant parts of the season, Duba still managed to contribute a commendable six goals and three assists, underscoring his importance to the team's attacking output when available.

A primary goal for Duba in the new campaign is to maintain consistent fitness, avoiding the injury setbacks that plagued his previous season.

His preference for “stronger teams” as opponents during the Netherlands pre-season tour stems from a belief that such challenging fixtures will provide the ideal preparation.

‘I HOPE WE FIND STRONGER TEAMS’

“Coming back here is amazing, I'm so excited for the new season,” Duba said via the club's media department.

“It will be a great experience for us to go outside [the country] and a pre-season outside.

“I hope we find stronger teams to play against in our friendly games so they can prepare us for the new season.”

After a rigorous fortnight of training sessions at their Naturena base, the Phefeni Glamour Boys departed on Thursday night.

Their schedule features challenging encounters against strong Dutch sides, including SBV Vitesse Arnhem, Utrecht, NEC Nijmegen, PEC Zwolle, and FC Twente.
