Kaizer Chiefs make massive and bold step in Mayele chase

Amakhosi have shown they are serious in their pursuit for the Democratic Republic of Congo striker.

Kaizer Chiefs are in the market desperately looking for quality players to help them have a better 2024/25 Premier Soccer League campaign.

So far, the Glamour Boys have signed four players; Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, and Bongani Sam were signed early. The latest arrival who has brought to boost the winning mentality, is former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Gaston Sirino.

The attacking department also needs to be strengthened, and one player who has been heavily linked with a move to Naturena is Congolese Fiston Mayele.

Amakhosi make an official bid

According to Africa Transfermarket, coach Nasreddine Nabi wants to be reunited with the established striker, having worked together, initially, at Young Africans SC before joining Egyptian side Pyramid.

“Kaizer chiefs sent an offer for Pyramids in order to sign Congolese striker Fiston Mayele,” they reported on Wednesday.

“Fiston Mayele said yes to coach Nasreddine Nabi, he had agreed to play for former Yanga coach… The final issue is waiting for Pyramids to [either] accept or to ask Kaizer Chiefs to increase the bid.”

Meanwhile, former Chiefs striker Kabamba Musasa believes the 30-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo forward is what the club needs.

“[Mayele] will be a good signing for Chiefs without any doubt because it is the coach who wants him. It will be an upgrade for him to move from Pyramids considering the size of these two clubs. I played for Chiefs, so I understand what it means to play for a club like that,” he told SNL24.

“I am not surprised the Chiefs coach wants him because Mayele is a good striker who scored a lot of goals for him in Tanzania.

“Based on what I’ve seen and heard about what is happening at my beloved Chiefs, I believe Chiefs desperately need Mayele and Nabi has told them so.

“They need to win matches and to win matches they need to score goals and with Kalala they have a solid source of goals.

“Kalala can give Chiefs 20 goals next season with good players around him because he is a number nine.He knows what Nabi needs and how he sets up his teams and so will just fit in with ease. I have watched him play several times and I know he can do the job for the Chiefs.”

Last season, Mayele played 38 games for Pyramids, scored 16 goals and provided five assists.
