Amakhosi have reportedly brought in an experienced head at the back to help ease pressure especially in youngsters.
Kaizer Chiefs promised to bring in quality players after a 4-0 loss against Young Africans in the pre-season Toyota Cup game played at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday, July 28.
Prior to the game, the Glamour Boys had signed Fiacre Ntwari, Bongani Sam, and Rushwin Dortley.
After the humiliation by the Tanzanian champions, Amakhosi swiftly acted by signing experienced former Mamelodi Sundowns versatile attacker Gaston Sirino.
Angola international set to be unveiled?
Far Post reports Amakhosi have now raided Petro de Luanda for the services of Angola international defender Inacio Miguel.
“The two clubs have finalised the transfer fee, and Inacio is expected to sign this week after agreeing to personal terms,” they confirmed.
“Standing tall at 1.85m, he brings a combination of physical strength, aerial ability, and technical skill to his game. In addition, his defensive prowess is reflected in his statistics: 1.5 tackles and 3.2 clearances per game in the 2023/24 season.
“Beyond his defensive duties, Inacio’s composure on the ball and accurate passing enable him to contribute to his team’s build-up play. This is considered a crucial element for defenders in head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s system.”
Why do Chiefs need Miguel?
Given Msimango was the only consistent center-back for the club in the 2023/24 season, despite finishing 10th in the Premier Soccer League.
Mozambique international Edmilson Dove was played alongside Msimango after Thatayaone Ditlhokwe failed to deliver as expected following his move from SuperSport United. However, Dove has been on and off the team due to injuries.
New signing Dortley might need some time before stamping his authority at Naturena, and Nabi may have decided to bring in an experienced head to ease the pressure at the back.
Last season, he played 21 games across all competitions for his club – Girabola, Caf Champions League and African Football league, and scored three goals in the process.
