Motaung Jr. makes a bold promise if Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles continue: ‘I must make way’

Kaizer Chiefs have gone four games without tasting a win, which has seen them get eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup and fall behind in the race for the Premier Soccer League.

At the beginning of the season, the Glamour Boys signed 11 players to strengthen their squad. At some point, they were put in the race for the PSL title alongside the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, and traditional rivals Orlando Pirates.

However, a couple of weeks later, Amakhosi are 17 points behind Masandawana and 14 points less than second-placed Orlando Pirates.

Furthermore, the Glamour Boys are almost guaranteed a campaign without silverware after falling short domestically in the Carling Knockout and the Nedbank Cup.

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has promised to quit if he fails to help the club deliver. Currently, the administrator insists the team is on the right path.

“Last year we ended a 10-year trophy drought, and it took three years to be able to change the club’s fortunes. I firmly believe that if you work as a collective, there’s so much more that we can achieve. We also have goals and targets, but I’m here to work. I’m here to serve,” he told MSW.

“The time when I don’t achieve the goals like anybody else, then I will be the first person to be like, ‘well, listen, I’m not achieving the goals that I have set out.’ We are here to work and serve. There’s no one here who has a set job. Everyone has deliverables. Everyone has KPIs that you have to achieve.

“I’m fully focused on my responsibilities, and I think everyone that’s associated with the team is fully focused. I’m here to work and serve. I have a job and a responsibility. And like anybody else, if I do not achieve the roles and objectives set out for me, then I must make way,” the 44-year-old Motaung Jr. concluded.
