Latest news around Kaizer Chiefs in the last 24 hours, including resolve to redeem themselves against Mamelodi Sundowns, ex-attacker adamant the Glamour Boys haven’t turned a corner, and more.
Chiefs set to redeem themselves against Downs
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says his players have a chance at redemption in their clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
“We still have three [sic.] games, as we said before we want to finish as high as we can and the good thing is ahead of us is our next game, a big one and we gonna do everything to react, and show the character,” Kaze told the media.
“It’s very good that it’s a big game that is coming for us to put ourselves in the right mindset.

“It’s a disappointment for everyone, I hope everyone is gonna take the next game as an opportunity to rise-up and to show that this club deserves to be on top where it belongs.”
Chiefs haven’t turned a corner
Former midfielder Junior Khanye has shared a measured assessment of Kaizer Chiefs’ recent performances, urging caution despite signs of improvement in their campaign.
“For me, Chiefs were first properly tested against Polokwane City, and that’s why I’ve been saying I’m not entirely convinced they’ve turned the corner. They still need to improve,” said Khanye.

“Yes, they’ve won games and managed draws against Polokwane City and Orlando Pirates, but we can’t ignore that most of the teams they’ve beaten are in the relegation zone. Polokwane City are a strong side and have consistently competed for a Top Eight spot in recent seasons, despite not having many experienced players. Credit must go to coach Phuti Mohafe for the work he’s doing there.”
Amakhosi legend quits his job
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande has reportedly left his role as head coach of Zimbabwean side Rangers FC.
Katsande said his decision came after a period of reflection, after expressing a desire to focus on long-term player development.
He remained committed to player development and sent a message to the players and staff as he wished them well for the season.
The club will reportedly announce Katsande’s replacement as the season moves along.
