Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo has earned another feather on his well-decorated cap after being awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

Khumalo is regarded as one of the finest players to ever come out of South Africa following his successful spells with the national team and his club Kaizer Chiefs.

The legendary attacker was part of the South Africa squad that lifted the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations title and scored the first goal after Bafana’s readmission in 1992. He also turned out for the country at the 1998 World Cup.

Khumalo is revered for his skills on the ball as he scared defenders with his dribbling, beating his markers with ease to the delight of fans and led Chiefs to multiple trophies.

Now serving mostly as a pundit, Khumalo, 58, still remains widely popular and commands respect across the football divide and it is due to his impact that he has been honoured.

“The Tshwane University of Technology is proud to officially confer upon Theophilus Doctor Khumalo an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Science (Kinesiology and Coaching Science) through the Faculty of Science,” TUT stated as per iDiski Times.
