Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has revealed how challenging and frustrating it was for him when he suffered a long-term injury before he returned to action early this year.
“My injury lay-off was a very difficult period for me,” he told the Chiefs website. “It started around April last year. I battled with agrion injury for six or seven months.”
“As soon as I recovered, I played a few games and broke down a bit against Zamalek (in the CAF Confederation Cup) in a very important match, which was very frustrating. But I have been through my rehabilitation and I’m ready for regular football,” he added.
Galaxy vs Chiefs: Why Amakhosi should be worried

Kaizer Chiefs take on TS Galaxy on Sunday, looking for a fourth straight win, but their record against the Rockets is a cause for worry.
This is because in their last 10 meetings, Chiefs are yet to win, losing two while eight games have been drawn. The last time Chiefs beat Galaxy was in June 2021 but winger Asanele Velebayi remains confident.
“So, I know we’re not in a bad run against them, but we always seem to be unlucky playing against them,” Velebayi told iDiski Times.
“But it always comes down to, I don’t know, I don’t want to say we’ve been lacking or something, it all comes down to who wants it the most. So, I think they’ve shown [more] character or great mindset than us, I don’t know, but it all comes down to who wants it the most.”

Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango is wary of TG Galaxy, who they face in a PSL match on Sunday. Msimango is an ex-Galaxy player and has named the potential threats that Amakhosi will face in their bid for a fourth straight win.
“One thing I have picked up is that they have speedy wingers that like to take opponents on. They have the youngster (Selukelo) Mahlambi and a good striker in (Victor) Letsoalo. Defensively, as well, they don’t leak a lot of goals. They play a varied game so we are not underestimating them at all and expect a real test on Sunday,” Msimango told the club website.
