Kaizer Chiefs table offer for in-demand PSL forward

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly tabled an offer for Stellenbosch FC winger Langelihle Phili.

The youngster has attracted interest from a number of clubs who are looking to sign him but Chiefs look determined to win the race.

According to SABC journalist Mazola Molefe, Chiefs have tabled an offer to Stellies and are looking to include a number of their fringe players into the deal to sign the highly-rated forward.

Kaze and Ben Youssef PSL awards nomination questioned

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Sergio Dos Santos does not understand why Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef were nominated for the PSL Coach of the Season Award.

The PSL announced nominees for the end of the season awards and Kaze who worked as co-coach with Ben Youssef were among the three nominees, the others being Mamelodi Sundowns’ Miguel Cardoso and Orlando Pirates boss Abdeslam Ouaddou.

While Cardoso and Ouaddou pushed each other in the title race before the latter won the PSL while the former clinched the CAF Champions League, Kaze and Ben Youssef guided Chiefs to third place and Dos Santos feels there were other deserving candidates than the ex-Chiefs coaching duo.

“Obviously, if I was part of the judging panel, I wouldn’t have voted for Kaze and Youssef. On what grounds would I vote for them?,” he posed while speaking to KickOff.

“Look at Pitso Dladla; when he took over at Durban City, he did a very good job, didn’t he? He took over the team when it was struggling and turned them into Nedbank Cup champions and qualified them for the CAF Champions Confederation Cup.

“But the ones from Chiefs? Most of last season, they would lose one game, then lose another again, draw the next, win the following one, and then lose again. And you want to make them coach of the season when there is no consistency? What is that?”

Newly-appointed Young Africans coach Manqoba Mngqithi has revealed how someone has been blocking his attempts to get the Kaizer Chiefs job, having come close to moving to Naturena a number of times, but missing out to other candidates.

“It is a good project, I cannot lie to you and say it is not a good project. I know Kaizer Chiefs did have interest in me, it is not a lie,” Mngqithi said on Thabiso Mosia’s Game On.

“But it never reached any fruition, because there are people who block these moves. There are people who always find a way to speak negatively about a person.

“The Chiefs one never even reached terms and positions and what not because someone blocked it. I am fortunate to know that person and I am not worried about it. But it is true,” the former Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns coach added.
