Latest Kaizer Chiefs news in the last 24 hours, including how Langelihle Phili plans to remain grounded, what Thembinkosi Lorch might bring to the club, and more.
How Phili intends to remain grounded
Kaizer Chiefs’ new signing, Langelihle Phili, has shed light on how he intends to remain grounded and keep improving after opening his goal-scoring account for Amakhosi against Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.
The 21-year-old winger completed a permanent transfer to the Soweto giants from Stellenbosch FC earlier this month and has swiftly made his mark at his new club. Phili has featured in three matches for Chiefs since his arrival.
Last week, he delivered a performance that earned him the Premier Soccer League Man of the Match award in Chiefs colours against Sekhukhune United, whom they beat 2-0 at FNB Stadium.
The South African youth international carried that momentum into Saturday’s high-stakes league fixture against Masandawana at the Calabash, scoring his first goal for the side now led by Fernando da Cruz. The encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.
“Obviously, being at such a great football institution as Kaizer Chiefs, you want to play in the big games. So being able to play and score against Mamelodi Sundowns, the African champions, was huge for me, as could be seen from my celebration,” he told the team’s media department.

Despite his impressive start to life at Chiefs, the young attacker remains focused on his long-term development rather than getting carried away by early success.
“Still, my overriding aim is to help the team in any way possible,” he emphasised. “In order to maintain my form consistently, I must just keep listening to the coach and the technical team, learning from my teammates, and just keep trying hard every day to become a better version of myself.”
Lorch to Chiefs: Where will he fit?
Former Kaizer Chiefs dribbling wizard Thabiso ‘Skapie’ Malatsi has opened up on whether Thembinkosi Lorch could be the right fit for the club.
Lorch has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in Morocco; his former side Wydad Casablanca and reigning Botola Pro champions MAS Fes.
However, rumours are circulating that Amakhosi could be one of the suitors for the former Orlando Pirates forward, who could be looking for a new challenge after Rulani Mokwena, who signed him for Al Ittihad, left the club and joined Pyramids.
“I heard that they are talking to Lorch, it would help them a lot,” Malatsi told KickOff.
“Age is not a problem. In South Africa, when you reach 30… Look at the late Shoes Moshoeu. Lorch, we have seen him at the FIFA Club World Cup. I think if he returns to SA, he must continue with the lifestyle he was living when he was out of the country.

“It depends on the lifestyle you live and if your lifestyle is not up to date, there is nothing much you can do. But if he continues with the lifestyle he is living, know that I’m doing it for Kaizer Chiefs, I’m doing it for Dr. Kaizer Motaung, the technical staff, my family, and supporters, then I don’t see a problem.
“Age is nothing, as long as he has the talent. God has given him the talent. He didn’t borrow him; He gave him the talent. So, I believe if he lives the same lifestyle he was living out of the country, then the rest will follow,” he went on.
