Mamelodi Sundowns Transfer News: Kekana rejects new deal!

Mamelodi Sundowns are known for keeping their best talent by offering them long-term deals.

However, it seems they have failed in their bid to secure the future of youngster Gomolemo Kekana. The upcoming star has been delivering for the reserve team, and was part of the U20 team that featured for the country in recent continental outing.

He was impressed by scouts from other teams keen on snapping him up. It explains why the Brazilians have been keen on having him in the team but have reportedly failed.

“Midfielder Gomolemo Kekana has rejected a new contract offer from Mamelodi Sundowns, with his agent believing the proposed package does not reflect his value at this stage of his career,” SABC Sport reported.

Why Kekana is not interested with the new deal

“The 20-year-old’s agent, Basia Michaels of QT Sports, is understood to have informed Sundowns that the offer needs to be improved or the player could leave on a free transfer when his current deal expires.,” they added.

“Sundowns have offered Kekana a new long-term contract as the club seeks to secure its emerging talent. However, negotiations have gone back and forth, with the midfielder’s camp ultimately rejecting the latest proposal.

“Approached for comment, Michaels declined to be drawn into a public dispute with Sundowns. However, Kekana remains keen to stay at Chloorkop, with his camp’s objection centred on the financial terms.,” SABC further concluded.

Kekana has made three senior team appearances across all competitions, with one coming in the ongoing edition.
