Latest news around Kaizer Chiefs in the last 24 hours, including Cedric Kaze insisting it is the right time to play Mamelodi Sundowns, how Siwelele beat Amakhosi & more.

Right time for Chiefs to play Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze says it’s good that the Soweto giants will face Mamelodi Sundowns in their next Betway Premiership clash.

Kaze believes that the next game gives them the opportunity to rise up again and fight to again.

“Yeah we still have, four games and as we said before we want to finish as high as we can and the good thing is our next game is a big one and we’re going to do everything to react and to show our character and it’s very good that it’s a big game that’s coming for to put ourselves in the right mindset to get into the game,” Kaze opened up to the media.

The defeat to Siwelele also saw Chiefs extended their winles run to three matches in the league following back-to-back draws against Polokwane City and Orlando Pirates.

“You know it’s disappointment for everyone and we hope that everyone is going to, you know take the next game as an opportunity to rise up and show that this club deserves to be on top where it belongs.”

How Seeme punished Chiefs

Siwelele head coach Lehlohonolo Seema has revealed the tactics and the players they targeted following their 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

“I think the guys, tactically, the game plan, they took it to the tee, because we knew where we could get joy, especially in their defence and in their middle, when I saw the team quickly, when I saw the three midfielders that they had and (Makabi) Lilepo, the only one at the top, they were looking for speed,” Seema told journalists.

“So we knew that most of the balls will come from Aden McCarthy, he’s got a good diagonal ball and (Given) Msimango will play down the line but we had to set up traps, because (Thabiso) Monyane and (Paseka) Mako will push high.

“We push high, just half-half but when we win the ball, we pass forward, we move forward and I think the guys managed to do that and we managed to score two goals after a long time, we never sat back and started to enjoy that 2-0 up at half-time, we continued, we could have one, two, maybe three, the goalkeeper came to the party but we’re a team that showed we wanted it more, we knew at some stage they will get tired because of the game (Soweto derby) they’re coming from,” the former Pirates defender concluded.

Some players lacking the mental strength?

Kaizer Chiefs’ former coach, Ernst Middendorp, is not convinced that most players at Amakhosi, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have the mental strength to cope with the pressure at those big clubs.

“Everybody thinks you can play for Kaizer Chiefs, everybody thinks you can play for Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns,” Middendorp said on The Wash 2.0 podcast.

“Everybody thinks you can coach [those teams]. I am not talking about the head coach only, I am also talking about the conditioning side, the analyst, and the level of all the experts around. Up to 10 [technical team members].

“I have seen a lot and worked with a lot of players who are or have been in the squad of Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns. I can say no chance for those players. They don’t have the required mentality, the resilience, not good enough. The players are not ready. They get excited. You see them so excited to go into the Orlando Stadium. They need 90 minutes to get it, and then the game is over.

“It is the mentality side, where you have to check also the recruitment side. There you have it. You can have Asanele Velebayi as an example. You can sign him. Fantastic player, everything looks good, nice, exciting, entertaining, perfect. You can take Luke Baartman, also a fantastic, lovable guy, also superb, but playing for Kaizer Chiefs? In the stage where they are, no chance,” Middendorp concluded.
