Latest Kaizer Chiefs news, including a former Amakhosi star urging the club to sign Thembinkosi Lorch and an important venue change for Chiefs’ next Betway Premiership fixture.
Why ex-Amakhosi star wants them to sign Lorch
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Thabiso ‘Skapie’ Malatsi has called on the club to prioritise the signing of Thembinkosi Lorch, arguing the experienced winger is exactly the senior figure Amakhosi need to guide and protect their emerging young talents.

Lorch, affectionately known as ‘Nyoso’, has been a free agent following Rhulani Mokwena’s departure from Al Ittihad, and speculation around a potential return to South Africa has intensified in recent weeks, with Chiefs frequently mentioned as a likely destination.
The 33-year-old has also drawn interest from North African clubs, including former side Wydad Casablanca and Moroccan champions MAS Fes.
Malatsi, however, is in no doubt that Lorch belongs back in the PSL, specifically at Naturena. The former Amakhosi dribbling wizard pointed to Lorch’s performances at the FIFA Club World Cup as proof of his enduring quality, and was direct in dismissing concerns over the forward’s age.

“I heard that they are talking to Lorch, it would help them a lot. Age is not a problem,” Malatsi told KickOff, invoking the legacy of the late John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu as evidence that South African footballers can remain impactful well into their thirties.
“There’s a lot of youngsters. I believe that the senior players are the ones who are supposed to step in and guide the youngsters. Because you can’t put all the pressure of Chiefs to the likes of Mfundo Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalala. You see that you are killing them?”
Kaizer Chiefs’ next PSL fixture moved to new venue
Kaizer Chiefs supporters travelling to the club’s next league outing will need to take note of an important change, after Richards Bay FC confirmed a venue switch for their upcoming clash with Amakhosi.

The two sides are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, 26 August, but the match will no longer be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium as originally planned. Richards Bay announced that the fixture has been relocated to Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu, Durban, citing unforeseen circumstances beyond the club’s control.
The fixture comes at a contrasting moment for the two sides. Richards Bay have made an uncertain start to the new campaign, picking up just two draws and suffering one defeat from their opening three outings, while Chiefs have impressed with two wins and a draw — including a hard-fought 1-1 stalemate against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium last weekend.
