Bradley Cross has not kicked a ball at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, yet the Kaizer Chiefs left-back is still benefiting handsomely from the tournament.
The 25-year-old has been an unused substitute in both of South Africa’s Group Stage fixtures, sitting out the matches against Mexico and Czechia from the bench.
Despite the lack of minutes, those who monitor player transfer valuations have identified Cross as a notable beneficiary of the World Cup spotlight.
His estimated market value has risen by around ten per cent in the four weeks since his selection was confirmed, with his evaluation now sitting at just under R10 million.
Katsande: Why Da Cruz’s return is a win
Club legend Willard Katsande has voiced his full backing for Fernando da Cruz’s appointment as Kaizer Chiefs head coach, saying the Frenchman’s familiarity with the club is an advantage that should not be underestimated.

Da Cruz was confirmed as the new Amakhosi head coach last week, returning to Naturena having previously served as assistant to Nasreddine Nabi during the 2024-25 season before departing to take on the role of technical director at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
“The fans have to get behind the coach. He is our coach now. Most of the players already know him, so it’s easier to adapt to him; this is continuity,” Katsande said as per FARPost.
“Fernando da Cruz walking back into Naturena is a major advantage for Kaizer Chiefs. Familiarity means there is a little adjustment period. Da Cruz already understands the culture at Chiefs and has worked with some of the players before. That cuts out weeks of ‘getting to know you’ sessions. It also helps with buy-in.”

Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana is reportedly set to leave Tunisian giants Esperance, altering clubs in South Africa among them Kaizer Chiefs.
Mokwana joined Esperance in 2024 and after one season, he was loaned out to Saudi club Al Hazem, where he managed 26 appearances and scored one goal.
Having returned to the club, Esperance are reported not to be keen to keep him and a parting of ways is imminent as per KickOff, which will open door for South African clubs to sign the ex-Sekhukhune United winger on a free transfer.
