Kaizer Chiefs will be playing in the MTN8 this year after a two-year absence but it will not be an easy fixture.

The PSL released the quarter-final pairings at the conclusion of the 2025-26 PSL campaign and Chiefs, who finished third, have a date with sixth-placed Golden Arrows.

Amakhosi will have to put their best foot forward to get over Manqoba Mngqithi’s side and make it to the semi-final.

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has weighed in on the uncurtaining surrounding co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, whose tenure has come to an end following the conclusion of the season.

Chiefs finished third under the duo, who took over from their boss Nasreddine Nabi last September, and opinion is divided on whether they should stay or go.

“Well, I think now, I mean, everyone can see the vast defensive shape that we’ve had right now and how we’ve had one of our best sort of goal differences in many years,” Motaung Jr told SuperSport TV as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Everyone behind the scenes has worked very hard and the co-coaches themselves must take a lot of credit.

“The players must take a lot of credit. Our recruitment department must take a lot of credit because I think everything is definitely a culmination of work and planning.

Is Kaze on staying or leaving Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze is hoping that he has done enough to convince the board to hand him and Khalil Ben Youssef the job permanently.

The two guided Chiefs to third place, their best since finishing second in 2020, and while not everyone is supporting their continuation, they hope their run of results can swing the pendulum in their favour.

“It’s up to the board, next week probably we will meet and to assess as well the season, as well as the coaches. There are things that we have to put on the table that we believe that would push the team forward,” he said.

“It’s going to be a discussion between two parties that have lived together well and I’m pretty sure that you will get the information.”
