Decision made on Miguel’s future?

Inacio Miguel’s contentment at Kaizer Chiefs has given the earliest hint that the pendulum will swing towards an extension at the club, according to Kick Off.

Miguel is in the third year of the contract that he signed when he joined in July 2024 after Chiefs paid R4,2 million to secure his services from Angola’s serial champions Petro de Luanda.

The 30-year-old has settled in with ease in Johannesburg, with his command of English making the process glitch-free. His family has joined him from Portugal, where he was born and lives, though he is of Angolan roots.

Information emerging points to the direction of happiness in how Miguel has been treated during his time at Chiefs. This then suggests that the intention is to remain at the club beyond the expiry of his current deal.

Miguel turns 31 this year, and should he stay, his next contract will be shorter than the three years he signed when he joined. The plus for him is that he has already earned the confidence of Fernando da Cruz.

Miguel has previously played in Portugal, Romania, Latvia, and Angola.

Last year, it was disclosed by an Angolan publication disclosed that his package at the Soweto giants was already standing at about R4,6 million per annum. 

Chiefs product out for two months

Kaizer Chiefs loanee Samkelo Zwane was a surprise absentee from Hope FC’s historic first-ever match in the professional ranks, and KickOff can reveal the reason behind the midfielder’s delayed debut.

The 24-year-old was a notable absentee as The Immortals opened their Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over University of Pretoria at Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

The midfielder is due to spend the rest of the 2026/27 season on loan at the Cape Town side from Chiefs, alongside goalkeeper Bontle Molefe, as announced by Amakhosi a week ago.

KickOff can reveal that Zwane will likely not appear anytime soon in the colours of Hope FC due to injury.

According to a source, the nimble-footed midfielder came to The Immortals carrying a hamstring injury and has not been heavily involved in training leading up to the Western Cape side’s first season in the MFC, following their promotion at the end of last season.

The Chiefs academy product could be out for at least two months before regaining his fitness and being ready to compete for a spot in the matchday squad or starting line-up.
