Mokwana has been without a club since leaving Tunisian giants Esperance, who signed him from Sekhukhune United in 2024, played him for one season, and sent him out on loan to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hazem last term.
The winger did not return to Tunisia upon the end of his loan in Saudi with both parties parting ways and he has been looking for a new home in the last few months.
According to SABC journalist Mazola Molefe, Mokwana has now agreed terms with Chiefs and is set to join the club during this week or the upcoming international break.

“Just last week we told you about Elias Mokwana being offered to the mighty Kaizer Chiefs, and I can tell you from what I am being led to believe, a free agent no more,” he said on SoccerZone.
“He has been sitting at home for some time but I can tell you, this week or just during the FIFA break, Elias Mokwana set to complete his move to Kaizer Chiefs.”
What happened to Ighodaro?

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs striker Etiosa Ighodaro has now gone one year without scoring with his only goal for the club netted on October 26, 2025.
The Nigerian signed for Chiefs with much promise ahead of the 2025-26 season but injuries struck, limiting him to just seven games all campaign.
He has returned this season but managed just five games, starting two. While injuries are not an issue at the moment, coach Fernando da Cruz has trusted other strikers ahead of him.

Wandile Duba has largely been the man trusted upfront by Da Cruz with Luke Baartman and Flavio da Silva also playing ahead of Ighodaro.
The striker last played during the goalless draw against Golden Arrows on September 20, when he came on as a late substitute, but has not made the squad for games against Red Arrows (two matches), Stellenbosch FC, TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates.
As he enters into the final months of his contract, Ighadaro is at risk of being offloaded without making a major contribution to Chiefs.
