Latest news about Kaizer Chiefs, in the last 24 hours including Ashley du Preez conceding it wasn’t his best season, Cedric Kaze on relationship with Nasreddine Nabi, ex-Amakhosi star wanted in Botswana and more.

This season tested me

Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley Du Preez has reflected on a difficult 2025/26 campaign that did not pan out the way he had hoped.

The 28-year-old saw limited game time this season, making just 12 appearances across all competitions. Of those matches, he started only six times, registering a single assist along the way.

At times during the campaign, the forward faced heavy criticism for missing clear-cut chances in both domestic competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup.

“Not the season I imagined, but maybe the season I needed,” said Du Preez on his Instagram account.

“This season tested me, humbled me, and grew me. I leave it stronger, wiser, and trusting God more than ever.

“I learned more in the struggle than I ever did in comfort. I will continue trusting God’s timing for everything ahead. Praise God.”

Ex-Chiefs star a wanted man in Botswana

Former Kaizer Chiefs star midfielder Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane has emerged as one of the prime targets in Botswana’s FNB Premiership, with clubs vying for his services.

Letsholonyane is currently head coach at Matebele FC. ‘Yeye’ took charge at the club in September 2025, making it his first professional coaching role. The CAF A-License holder signed a two-year deal with Matebele FC upon arrival.

According to Botswana publication 90 Plus, Sua Flamingoes and Jwaneng Galaxy have already made contact with Letsholonyane over his services.

Jwaneng Galaxy, a club formerly led by Morena Ramoreboli, are yet to present their offer to the coach. But Sua Flamingoes are a step ahead, having already tabled what they believe is a decent offer to lure the former Bafana Bafana star.

Jwaneng Galaxy are looking to find a coach good enough to match what Ramoreboli achieved during his time at the club. Galaxy have played second fiddle to 2025/26 FNB Premiership champions Gaborone United, who have won back-to-back titles.

Kaze on ‘strained’ relationship with Nabi

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze has opened up about an alleged ‘strained’ relationship with former head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

There was a narrative, however, that Kaze and Ben Youssef had betrayed Nabi, who brought them to the club, after they stayed following the departure of the former AS FAR coach.

“You know in those kind of situations when the head coach is removed, there is always things that happen and when they chose the assistant coaches to take over, most of the times people think there’s something behind, that’s how the relationship gets, as you said ‘strained’,” Kaze said on 947’s MSW.

“It’s unfortunate that situation happened, me and Nabi have always been in good terms, we haven’t spoken since that time but he’s someone I can call any time and I’m pretty sure that he can call me anytime

“It’s true, those phone calls have not happened since he left.”
