Motaung Sr surprised by new signing

Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung Sr was taken aback by new signing Renaldo Leaner’s height.

Leaner completed a move to Naturena on Monday, joining the Glamour Boys as a free agent after leaving Sekhukhune United.

The giant goalkeeper was ushered into the chairman’s office by Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr and Football Manager Bobby Motaung before meeting the chairman.

Motaung Sr was surprised by the height of the goalkeeper,” saying: “But you looked shorter than this. He is [very] tall,” said a surprised Motaung Sr.

Leaner is set to compete for the starting berth with Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma as well as Fiacre Ntwari while there are also youngsters Bontle Molefe and Takalani Mazhamba at the club.

Nabi sets up potential Kaizer Chiefs clash

Kaizer Chiefs could come up against their former coach Nasreddine Nabi after his club Raja Casablanca sealed a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Raja finished third in the Moroccan league last weekend to qualify for the Confederation Cup, a competition which Chiefs also secured after similarly finishing third in the Premier Soccer League.

With Nabi having joined the club last month, he could come up against Chiefs in the competition next season if they both land in the same group or in the knockout rounds.

Nabi qualified Chiefs for Confederation Cup last season when he won the 2024-25 Nedbank Cup but he had left the club by the time they started their campaign. He has extensive experience in the competition after guiding Tanzanian giants Young Africans to the 20223 final.

Ex-Chiefs star lands in Kuwait after Saudi heroics

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro has completed his move to Kuwait Premier League outfit Al-Fahaheel SC after a successful spell in Saudi Arabia with Al-Adalah as per iDiski Times.

Chivaviro, who left Chiefs a year ago, scored an impressive 13 goals in 28 games for the Saudi First Division side last season and will hope to have a similar impact in Kuwait.
