Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef helped Amakhosi to a third-place finish on the Premier Soccer League table in the just concluded 2025/26 season.

The duo took the mantle just six games into South African top-tier campaign after the firing of Nasreddine Nabi who had failed to convince the management that he is the right man for the job.

Despite failing to deliver in the Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout, and the CAF Confederation Cup, the Soweto giants did well in the league to finish third, behind traditional rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively.

Will Chiefs retain Kaze and Ben Youssef?

Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. insists that so far, nothing has been agreed about the tacticians.

“So, I think obviously [Chiefs vs Chippa United] is the last game. We rewind down, sit down, consolidate all reports, and see the way forward,” he responded when asked about the technical team.

“We also must give credit to the coaches. We had an average age of 20 years and I think 21 days on the pitch on Saturday. I mean Taka, to be the age of 18, youngest goalkeeper to make a debut since 1998, a lot of bravery from the coaches, looking to plan for the future.

“We have given a debut to someone like Takalani [Mazhamba], which testament goes to coach [Ilyes] Mzoughi, who believes in our young talent, understands how important it is to groom them,” he concluded.

It is interesting to see who will be signed in the forthcoming transfer window to strengthen the squad.
