Kaizer Chiefs loanee Vicky Mkhawana recently helped Kruger United FC to get promoted from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the Premier Soccer League.
The 20-year-old attacker played a crucial role for the club to ensure they got their spot in the South African top-flight football in the 2026/27 season. The junior South Africa international has been consistent throughout the 2025/26 campaign in the lower tier.
However, the attacker is not keen on spending another year away from the Naturena Village.
Mkhawana is confident of delivering for the Glamour Boys’ senior team if given a chance by the technical team. He argues the experience he has received with Kruger will help him deliver for Chiefs.
Mkhwana wants Kaizer Chiefs chance
“My ambition is to break into the [Kaizer Chiefs] first team, that’s always been my goal. I want to play in the first team and prove my capabilities. I believe in having what it takes to do it, but we will see how it goes,” Mkhwana said as quoted by FARPost.
“I learnt a lot during my stay in Kruger because these are not the players I was used to. These are older players than me, so it made me not be in my comfort zone. So it meant I needed to improve daily.
“I am thrilled because this is my first medal since I turned professional. So I am grateful to God for giving me the strength to reach this level.
“I am grateful to Kruger for allowing me to be part of the team and gain experience. They need to continue to give other young players the opportunity,” the youngster concluded.
