Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Lilepo decision reached by management

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs are working on their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season hoping to get a competitive squad to help them challenge for the Premier Soccer League after finishing third in the most recent one.

The Soweto giants will have to do with a new technical team following the exit of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil ben Youssef who were let go after the expiry of their contract. the duo had taken over from Nasreddine Nabi earlier in the 2025/26 campaign.

No coach has been confirmed yet but significan’t movement is already happening in the squad. For instance, recently the club lost their 22-year-old versatile defender Aden McCarthy who joined Azerbaijan-based Sabah FK.

Questions have been asked about the Democratic Republic of Congo international Glody Lilepo, who had suggested at the end of last season that he was on his way out.

Last season, the 28-year-old was among the club’s key players; he played 37 games across all competitions, managed to score nine goals and provided four assists in the process.

It explains why the fans were worried with rumours that the towering attacker might not be at the Naturena Village next season. That will not be the case according to Soccer Laduma.

“That’s useless. Lilepo is here. Lilepo is around. There is nothing like that. He is not going anywhere,” the publication confirmed. This will be massive news for the club’s faithful, to retain their effective attacker who has initially played for Mbabane Swallows in Eswatini,  Renaissance, Vita Club, Al-Hilal Club and Valenciennes SC.
