AGF Aarhus winger Gift Links has no intentions of playing in the Premier Soccer League, at least not now.
The 27-year-old has been abroad since 2019 and recently extended his deal with the Danish outfit until June 2029. In the ongoing campaign. The former Cape Town City star has been a star layer for AGF Aarhus.
In the 2025/26 campaign, he has played 22 goals and managed four goals and as many assists. He was expecting to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) but coach Hugo Broos opted against including him in his team.
Links gives reason for not considering PSL return
“You know, it’s always difficult to move away from your so-called comfort zone. So, when I moved to Denmark, I was still a young guy who took a chance. But, of course, my experience in Egypt helped me a lot. It made it a lot easier for me because I was alone in a foreign country at 19 years old. I then went back to South Africa, and when the opportunity came for me to go to Denmark, I said, ‘Okay, let me go and see what they have for me’,” he told Radio2000.

“However, the first year was difficult for me. I was in a foreign country at a young age, and I had to get used to a lot of things like the weather, culture, food, and everything. But I got myself a Danish girlfriend. I think she made everything easier for m. Trust me, it’s important. She helped me a lot.
“At the moment, I’m really happy in Denmark. I’m not planning to come back home. As you have seen, I have extended my contract with my team. Of course, there were other interests from teams in the French Ligue 1, Belgium, and elsewhere.
“But I decided to commit to Denmark because I’m happy here. This is my happy place. So it was very important for me when I signed a new contract. For me to play well, I need to be happy. That is why it was easier for me to commit,” Links added.
Links reacts to Broos’ snub
The winger has no hard feelings despite failure to make the AFCON squad as coach Hugo Broos opted to go with players he felt were better than him.
“What’s been said was said but I have no hard feelings, all I can do is to keep working hard,” he continued.
“But yeah of course, I just wanna say all the best to the boys as they head to the AFCON. I know we have great players who’re going to there and make the country proud.
“The most important thing for me is to work here. It’s part of football, these kinds of things should be a motivation to keep pushing,” Links concluded.
