Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Doom for Cele as star joins, keeper leaves

Kaizer Chiefs have brought in an established defensive midfielder to strengthen the team ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Glamour Boys finished third in the previous campaign for the first time in six years. Apart from the Nedbank Cup and Carling knockout, the Glamour Boys who make a return to the CAF Confederation Cup for the second year in a row, are expected to challenge for the Premier Soccer League title and MTN8 as well.

It explains the changes they are making including the recent signing of a defensive midfielder from Tanzanian heavyweights.

“The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who was captain at Azam, becomes the first player from Tanzania to join Amakhosi. His arrival adds to the impressive list of players from over 20 different African countries who have worn the famous Gold & Black jersey.

“Mtasingwa brings valuable experience, having spent six seasons in Scandinavia, playing in the Icelandic, Norwegian and Finnish leagues. He returned home in 2024 to help Azam FC finish third in the Tanzanian league last season.

“The Tanzanian international has filled the role of vice-captain for his national team. We warmly welcome Adolf to the family and wish him success on his journey with the Glamour Boys,” they concluded.

The signing indicates Thabo Cele’s time at the club might be over, with the midfielder at liberty to find a new team.

Chiefs make decision on keeper

“Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari will join Mpumalanga-based Kruger United on a season-long loan in the upcoming 2026/27 campaign,” the club added.

“The move gives the Rwandan international a chance to gain valuable game time while contributing to the ambitions of the newly promoted outfit in the Betway Premiership,” they explained.

So far, the Glamour Boys have brought in Thabo Moloisane (Stellenbosch) and Renaldo Leaner.

Aden McCarthy (Sabah, Azerbaijan), George Matlou & Happy Mashiane, Tashreeq Morris (Durban City), Gaston Sirino are the other players who have been let go.
