Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Amakhosi reignite interest in Portuguese-based star

Kaizer Chiefs are set to strengthen their squad further in the forthcoming Premier Soccer League offseason transfer window.

The Glamour Boys brought arguably quality additions ahead of the almost-ending campaign, but it seems things haven’t worked their way as anticipated. Amakhosi failed to stage a meaningful competition in domestic tournaments and also missed the CAF Confederation Cup knockout phase.

Chiefs have been under the leadership of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef following the firing of Tunisian Nasreddine Nabi just six games into the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League season. A new tactician is expected to be appointed once the edition concludes.

As usual, the Glamour Boys will be in the market for quality players to strengthen the squad.

Kaizer Chiefs to sign Mabuza?

One name that has been mentioned several times in connection with new Amakhosi players is Mhleli Mabuza. Last season, Chiefs were determined to land the defender, but things didn’t work out as planned.

According to Soccer Laduma, the Soweto giants are expected to land the defender in the next couple of months.

“The club is once again looking at bringing in Mhleli. They want him back. He trained with the team in the pre-season; unfortunately, the coaches were not impressed at that time.

“He went back to Portugal, where he signed a 1-year contract with Amora SAD because there was still hope of him coming back to Chiefs, and that’s why they have reignited the interest in him. But apparently, everything will be decided at the end of the season,” the publication reported.

Currently, Mabuza is playing for O Elvas CAD after leaving Amora in the January transfer window.
