Kaizer Chiefs legend Itumeleng Khune insists it is time for the Glamour Boys to deliver on the pitch and not to use the excuse of ‘rebuilding’ when things are not going as expected.
For the last 11 years, the Soweto giants have won just one major trophy, the Nedbank Cup, which came in the 2024/25 season under the guidance of former coach Nasreddine Nabi.

In the 2025/26 edition, Amakhosi were unable to win another silverware; they failed in the Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout, and CAF Confederation Cup. However, they finished third on the Premier Soccer League table, their first in six years.
Ahead of the new campaign, Khune has explained why he wants to see his former team get results on the pitch.
Khune tired with Kaizer Chiefs’ rebuilding for a decade

“You know that rebuild word, I have heard it for the last 10 years. For teams like Kaizer Chiefs they just have to be consistent in keeping one coach in making one coach, a very experienced coach that can come and take this project for the next five to 10 years without rebuilding again,” he opened up to the media.
“Chiefs are known to be cup specialists. Unfortunately, in the past 10 years, we have been struggling. But we found our feet again, and the team finished third this season. We can’t keep rebuilding every season,” Khune added.
The Glamour Boys are currently without a coach after the sending home of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef. Reports have it that Fernando Da Cruz will take over.

Players are expected back in camp on June 22 to start preparations for the 2026/27 season. They are expected to fly out to Germany, where they will play a couple of pre-season friendly games.
