Kaizer Chiefs stars served a warning ahead of Siwelele date – ‘They managed to hold a draw against Pirates’

Kaizer Chiefs are set for another Premier Soccer League outing on Wednesday night when they play Siwelele FC at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The Glamour Boys have been impressive in the last seven top-tier fixtures, winning five and drawing two. They have scored in all but one – against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Amakhosi were impressive on Sunday in the Soweto Derby versus traditional rivals Orlando Pirates that ended 1-1 at the FNB Stadium.

The initial meeting between the Glamour Boys and Siwelele ended goalless, and Thabiso Monyane has explained why it is not expected to be an easy ride in the midweek affair.

We are not expecting an easy game and do not underestimate any opponents; we go out there and give it our best every time. We have just played the derby, but this is an equally important game. We have analysed them [Siwelel] and have planned accordingly, and now we must go and execute it well again,” he told the media.

“We are in the final stretch of the season, and it’s important for us to keep going. We have some good momentum going at the moment, the team is doing well; we are in a good space, spirits are high, without getting carried away.

“We take each game as it comes. We aim to finish on a high and make our supporters happy,” Monyane concluded.

Siwelele stopped Pirates

Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy has echoed the sentiments made by his teammate ahead of the vital fixture.

“Playing in Bloem is not extra special, but there’s sentimental meaning to me — it’s where my father started playing, so I’m looking forward to it and feeling confident,” the versatile defender conceded.

“Siwelele is a good team. They managed to hold a draw against Pirates and we shouldn’t overlook the individual quality they have in their team.

“It should be a tough game and now going towards the end of the season, we must do the most we can as a team and make sure we get three points every game,” McCarthy concluded.
