Would Kaze like to remain at Kaizer Chiefs beyond this season?

There have been questions about the future of Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

The duo took over the reins at Amakhosi early in the season following the abrupt exit of coach Nasreddine Nabi, who had joined the club a season before. They have had mixed fortunes at the Soweto giants who brought on board 11 new players at the beginning of the campaign.

Amakhosi failed in their bid to deliver silverware domestically and abroad where they were competing in the CAF Confederation Cup. However, in the Premier Soccer League, Chiefs look hot favourites to secure the third position for the first time in a couple of years.

Ahead of the South African top-tier outing on Wednesday against Magesi at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Kaze was asked about his future. However, he was coy on whether he wants to stay or not.

“I think that we are here to serve the club and I believe that the consistency has been lacking a little bit because even I remember last season we could win one game or two games at maximum but that consistency of having a run of two, three, four games was a little bit lacking,” the Burundian opened up to the media..

“I think that we emphasise every day at training that we need to stay hungry every time, we need to take opportunity of every training, every exercise that we do to improve ourselves because we are in such a big club that you can’t allow yourself to relax or to feel that you have arrived.

“About the last part of the question, we have eight games to go and as coaches we know what we want to do and we are here to serve the club and we will do our best for the remaining games,” Kaze concluded.

Chiefs have played 22 games in the PSL with a return of 12 wins, six draws, and four losses which puts them behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates respectively.
