Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates have secured four points from their initial two Group C games in the Caf Champions League.
The latest assignment was between the two teams at Orlando Stadium which ended goalless as CR Belouizdad beat Stade d'Abidjan 2-0 to go third on the table with three points after the initial loss against Bucs.
The Ivorian outfit have lost back-to-back games and are at the bottom of the pool with no points which puts them in a precarious position.
Can Pirates advance?
In his recent interview with the media, the Red Devils coach Marcel Kohler conceded the MTN8 champions are a strong team who have what it takes to advance to the next phase of the annual club competition.
“[On Saturday] we were fighting for the three points [because] the first two in the group will progress,” Kohler said in his address to the media.
“They [Pirates] are a strong team with good technical and fast players and I’d say they had a good game. The other games will also be tight but I believe they can make the knockout stages.”
What did Riveiro say about the Stade d'Abidjan game?
“It's an away game, they didn't get a good result in the first game in Cairo [and CR Belouizdad],” he told the media.
“But you see the type of team they are; we managed to see that they've got multiple ways of playing.
“They're quite rich tactically and for sure an away game is going to be tough, it is going to be difficult. But I'm optimistic and I'm looking at the fixture as an opportunity to try to fight for the three points. Imagine if we do it. To find ourselves in the third game of the group stage with those points [seven].
“It would be nice, but we know we have to work so hard to make it possible, do what we did in Algeria [beating Belouizdad 2-1] and like we did it [on Saturday drawing against Ahly]. There's everything to be played for in the group,” Riveiro concluded
The game will be played on Saturday from 18.00 hours at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium.
