Latest on Njabulo Blom’s move to Stellies: Where has it gone wrong for ex-Chiefs star?

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Njabulo Blom has been heavily linked with a move to Stellenbosch ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.

Coach Gavin Hunt has been busy in reshaping the team; he has already brought on board Thabiso Lebitso from the champions Orlando Pirates as well as Sinoxolo Kwayiba who joined from Chippa United.

However, the club will be without Omega Mdaka (AmaZulu), Dejean Ah Shene, Kazie Enyinnaya, Wayde Jooste, Ibrahim Jabaar, Kyle Jurgens (Durban City), Lee Langeveldt, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Kobamelo Kodisang (end of loan), Tshegofatso Mabasa (End of loan), Oscarine Masuluke, Athenkosi Mcaba (Sekhukhune United), Thabo Moloisane (Kaizer Chiefs), Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Orlando Pirates), Olisa Ndah & Asekho Tiwani (End of loan).

Blom is among the players whom Hunt wants in his team, hoping to challenge for the top position when domestic football resumes.

Why is Blom’s move not completed?

“Talks between Njabulo Blom and Stellenbosch FC have hit a deadlock and are currently on pause after the player had already gone through his medicals,” iDiski Times reported.

“However, personal terms became an issue between Blom’s camp and Stellenbosch as they couldn’t agree.

“Talks between the two sides continued but so far they were not able to agree on terms, which means that Blom is still a free agent and allowed to sign with a team of his choice,” he added.

It is interesting to see whether Blom and Stellies will get a solution and eventually work together as the Maroons rebuild under Hunt. Last season, the club started the PSL badly, but the tactician helped them to safety. They ended up finishing ninth on the table with 37 points, just two outside the MTN8 spaces.
