Lebohang Maboe is drawing inspiration from past Mamelodi Sundowns players who used loan spells as a springboard to success, believing he can replicate their journey.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who recently joined the Spartans on loan at his own request from the Brazilians, is aiming to follow in the footsteps of players like Themba Zwane and Percy Tau.
The duo, who returned from loan spells became integral members of the team. They helped Sundowns win the 2016 CAF Champions League under the leadership of Pitso Mosimane.
MABOE BELIEVES HE’LL RETURN TO DOWNS AND BE SUCCESSFUL
“Yes, there's not really a lot of players (who have come back from loan and been successful),” Maboe told Soccer Laduma
“With the talent that I have, I definitely believe I can be part of the list. I have no doubt in mind, to be honest with you. Not with the talent that I am blessed with. I definitely can be in that list as well. You need to believe in yourself and your capabilities.”

Maboe faces a bittersweet situation: while Mamelodi Sundowns are on the verge of securing an unprecedented eighth consecutive league title, his loan move to the Spartans means he will be absent from the celebrations.
Maboe admits it will feel “weird” to miss out on the trophy presentation with his teammates, but ultimately, the need for consistent game time outweighed the desire to stay and potentially lift another championship with the Brazilians.
MABOE ON POTENTIALLY MISSING SUNDOWNS EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE TITLE
“I think it will be weird, but I am also enjoying myself and enjoying football right now. Sometimes, there are things that can't be bought, like the feeling of playing football.
“You can't buy that feeling. You can replace that feeling with anything else. You have to be playing and expressing yourself.”
