Kaizer Chiefs must overturn a 1-0 deficit against Red Arrows in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round on Friday, 23 October 2026.

Kick-off is at 18:00 SAST at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Arrows lead the tie after Alassane Diarra’s late header in Ndola, and a draw is enough to send them to the group stage.

What Chiefs need

Away goals apply, then penalties, with no extra time. Chiefs scored no away goal in Ndola, so a 1-0 win would level the tie at 1-1 and send it to penalties. A 2-1 win would put Arrows through on away goals. To go through outright, Chiefs need to win by at least two goals, such as 2-0 or 3-1.

How Kaizer Chiefs arrive

Chiefs lost 1-0 at Red Arrows on 17 October, with a corner left uncleared. They are unbeaten in eight Betway Premiership games and sit fourth on 14 points, but five of those matches ended in draws. Their latest league result was a 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch on 13 October.

Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Brandon Petersen and Langelihle Phili are out, and Thabiso Monyane is a doubt after going off injured after 30 minutes in Ndola. Coach Fernando Da Cruz said after the first leg: “We just lack efficiency.” Wandile Duba, the club’s leading league scorer with three goals, was a substitute in Ndola and is expected to start.

How Red Arrows arrive

Red Arrows have won four of their last five matches, scoring seven and conceding one. They beat FC Rouge of Madagascar 4-0 on aggregate in the previous round and won the Zambian cup in May. No injuries or suspensions have been reported. Coach Chisi Mbewe wants his side compact to deny Chiefs central space, and said: “We are very confident.”
