The defending champions arrive under a level of pressure that nothing in their nine-season title pursuit has previously matched.

Sundowns sit top of the Betway Premiership on 65 points from 28 games, three clear of Orlando Pirates.

The complication: Pirates hold a game in hand and a superior goal difference, which means anything other than three points this evening could see the trophy slip out of Pretoria’s hands for the first time in nine seasons.

Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs tightened the race and added two further problems for Miguel Cardoso.

Keanu Cupido is out for the rest of the domestic season with a fractured collarbone after Siphesihle Ndlovu’s studs-up challenge, while Jayden Adams begins a two-match suspension following his second red card of the campaign.

Arthur Sales, Miguel Reisinho and Mothobi Mvala all remain unavailable, and Teboho Mokoena is one yellow card away from joining them.

Siwelele FC arrive with the wind firmly at their backs. Lehlohonolo Seema’s side beat Chiefs 2-0 at Toyota Stadium on April 29, have kept three consecutive clean sheets, and have nothing to lose having already secured Premiership survival in their debut top-flight season.

The Bloemfontein outfit also have a 1-0 win over Pirates from earlier in the campaign, evidence that this is no soft landing for the champions.

Iqraam Rayners leads the home line on the back of 12 league goals from 15 starts, while Tebogo Potsane and Sphesihle Jeza spearhead a Siwelele attack that has earned every neutral’s respect.
